Abstract:

The anoptral microscope is described as a variety of the amplitude and negative phase-contrast microscope. However, there is considerable advantage in the anoptral microscope, particularly in the extremely great depth of the field of the object, which in an immersion system reaches a value of 2 microns in the ordinary immersion 90 the depth of the field does not exceed 0.4 microns. Excellent results were obtained during time lag motion picture taking of delicate viable processes such as the division of cell nuclei of Protozoa, and in the detection of the most minute details of protoplast, emerging during the division of bacteria.
