Abstract:

The Radio Frequency RF portion of a radio receiver system designed, developed and constructed for use in upper atmosphere research is discussed. This receiver system, which is a double-super-heterodyne type, is used to supply data relative to dispersive Doppler, spin and Faraday rotation, and propagation attenuation. The function of the RF section, design criteria, approaches to the design, problems, and techniques used in overcoming the problems are discussed in detail. Author
