Criteria for evaluation of training device effectiveness were developed. The report examines methods of evaluation with particular emphasis on the problems of objective evaluation in the on-going training situation. Consideration is given to problems of measurement, experimental design, and analysis in the field setting. Further, attention is given to the issues of utilization and design of training devices and their influence on training effectiveness. An evaluation of the Aetna Drivotrainer was made and consequent recommendations are included for the 11H54 Driving Improvement Trainer. A criterion-referenced measurement system was developed for the 1BZ2 Maneuvering Tactics Trainer for possible subsequent use in evaluating that device. Author
