The effect of deformation rate and temperature on the as-formed and heat-treated mechanical properties of Ti-6A1-4V and Ti-6A1-6V-2Sn were determined. In general, heat treatment removes any effect of deformation rate or temperature on the mechanical properties of both alloys, except at forming temperatures above their respective beta-transus temperature, where embrittlement is observed. The effect of strain rate on the mechanical properties is slight for Ti-6A1-4V, and quite noticeable for Ti-6A1-6V-2Sn in the as-formed condition at each forming temperature. In general, strength and ductility decrease in the as-formed condition for both alloys as the forming temperature increases for both strain rates evaluated. Authors
