Electrically rechargeable ZnAir energy storage systems were investigated. Two alternative systems, one with static and one with recirculating electrolyte, were studied. The ability of both systems to sustain chargedischarge cycling was shown experimentally. Parallel analytical studies showed that the static electrolyte system would be less complex and lighter in weight. For example, this latter system would yield, at the 4 hour charge-10 hour discharge cycle, 80 whlb energy density and an energy storage efficiency of 52.
