TRANGEN is a computer system for writing compilers. TRANGEN systems have been implemented on the IBM-7094, CDC-1604, and GE-635, and have been used to write translators for PLI, ALGOL, FORTRAN IV, and TRANDIR. TRANDIR is the TRANGEN user language which has pattern matching and action primitives found useful for compilers. This report serves as a users manual for TRANDIRTRANGEN on the M460 Univac computer. In this implementation, several on-line debugging features are emphasized as well as the modifiability of TRANDIR through re-bootstrapping. Author
