The data accumulated from six moorings for measuring deep currents in the Atlantic Ocean - by Richarson current meters - were subjected to harmonic analysis for the semi-diurnal tidal component of the current. The reality of the tidal amplitudes obtained by the analysis was tested statistically. The kinetic energy of the ocean fluctuations, and the kinetic energy due to the tidal movements were calculated. Methods of analyses are described, theories are mentioned briefly, and formulae of calculations are given. The tidal amplitudes are found to be varying with depth decreasing in most cases. The ellipticity of tidal ellipses described by the tidal current did not agree with the theoretical values for a progressive Sverdrup wave of tidal period. So, the existence of internal tide was concluded. Other conclusions were drawn. Suggestions for further work are given. Author
