A detailed experimental study was made of the frequency selective limiting behavior of coincidence limiters. The measurements on low level signals in the presence of high level signals were made as functions of relative and absolute power levels, frequency separation, and operating frequency with respect to limiter bandpass. A device was developed which acts as an octave band all pass with electronically tunable limiter ranges. It should be useful for most wideband limiter applications. Other techniques were also examined. This included multi-ball resonators, premature decline limiters and subsidiary resonance limiters. Materials work consisted of the fabrication YIG, CALVANBIG, MnZnY, and other materials as spheres and chips. Much of the work was in the S band region, but it appears that extension down to P and L and also up through C and X band can be made. Author
