Abstract:

The most substantial determiner of product variance was task type. The task difficulty factor controlled a moderate proportion of the product variance, as did the interaction between task type and difficulty. Order of presentation was essentially unrelat4ed to the product dimensions, either as a main effect or in interaction with other factors. All of the product dimensions were involved in significant relationships with one or more of the experimental factors. The percentage of variance associated with these relationships ranged from a high of 59 per cent for action orientation to a low of 15 per cent for adequacy. Finally, product creativity was successfully predicted from the product dimensions in multiple regression analyses, and different patterns of Beta weights were obtained for the product dimensions when predictions were made separately for the three types.
