Design and applications of the closed cycle gas turbine combined with high temperature reactors are discussed. Compared with water reactors and steam turbines, the direct cycle gas system - preferably helium - under elevated pressure gives opportunities to reduce the capital costs and to improve the economy due to higher efficiency. With helium as a working medium and the existing state of arts not only small and medium size but also plants up to 250 MW and more can be built. Author
