Abstract:

A finite-difference analog is formulated for the linearized equations which govern the propagation of ULF waves in the ionized terrestrial atmospheric medium. The formulation is carried out in a spherical coordinate system. The model of the medium consists of a static magnetic dipole centered in a perfectly conducting spherical earth which is surrounded by a plasma. Numerical results are presented and discussed for various special cases. Author
