AN ESTIMATING RELATIONSHIP FOR FIGHTER/INTERCEPTOR AVIONIC SYSTEM PROCUREMENT COST,
RAND CORP SANTA MONICA CALIF
Pagination or Media Count:
The memorandum examines the procurement cost of aircraft electronic systems. The results are based on the procurement cost of ten fighterinterceptor avionic systems. The research effort on avionic cost followed two distinct approaches 1 an attempt to relate the cost of individual electronic subsystems fire control, bomb-navigation, communications, etc. to the characteristics of these subsystems and 2 an attempt to relate total airborne electronic equipment or total avionic system cost for aircraft performing similar military missions long-range intercept, strategic bombardment, etc. to aircraft design and performance characteristics.
