Abstract:

The memorandum demonstrates that the wire recovery temperature in a steady-state flow may be accurately determined without a detailed knowledge of the convective heat-transfer rate to the wire. The analysis is valid even for large conduction losses at the wire supports, and a similar analysis could be made for transient conditions.
