The first part of this monograph consists of three articles. The first two articles discuss certain problems in meteorology from the point of view of cybernetics. In the second article, the technique of transfer function in automatic control theory is used to analyze a linear model for long-range numerical prediction. In the third article, the instability problem of large-scale atmospheric processes is investigated using Liapounoffs theory of stability. The second part of this monograph contains four articles dealing with processes of atmospheric heating and problems involved in long-range numerical prediction.
