As a basis for the evaluation of high resolution television displays for their possible application to visual simulation training technique, a high resolution television system was developed to provide high quality signals which will drive the display devices which were to be evaluated. As a result of previous research, a 1029 - scanning line television system had been developed. Limitations in this single camera arrangement restricted the research which could be conducted into high resolution devices. A larger, higher quality system was required to carry the research study to greater levels of performance with less effort lost due to maintenance and adjustment. The system constructed combines newly purchased devices modified as required for the application together with some specially developed items and other government furnished equipment which was modified and integrated into the system. The design approach which led to the particular system concept employed is explained also. The equipment itself is described in detail with schematics and interconnection diagrams provided for special pieces of equipment. The effort is considered successful, as documented by photographs of displays achieved through the system. Author
