Initial experiments were performed to confirm and extend the previously reported low pressure growth of diamond seed crystals. Growth is accomplished by deposition of carbon from hydrocarbon gases at temperatures and pressures near 1000C and 1 mm of mercury respectively. Increases in weight of the diamond seed crystals have been observed, but the structure of the deposit has not been conclusively identified as diamond. Author
