COMPUTATION OF TRANSDUCER VELOCITIES FOR VERY LARGE TRANSMITTING ARRAYS.

A method is proposed to compute the transducer velocities for large transmitting arrays by dividing each array into overlapping patches. Justification of the method is given in the form of computer results for line arrays of 10 to 30 elements steered from broadside at 60 degrees, 75 degrees, and 90 degrees. It is shown that for the trailing end of an array steered close to end-fire, the transducer velocities are nearly independent of the length of the array. Author
