The United States Continental Army Command requirements dealing with the miniaturization of the battlefield minimizing the amount of physical terrain required for Army training have generated a number of research efforts. One of these efforts, covered by the report, was a survey of European training devices. The limited terrain available in Europe has imposed stringent real estate requirements for generations, and it was therefore thought fruitful to examine European solutions to problems of military training in constricted geographical areas. The report encompasses the results of a survey of extant European training devices along with descriptions and estimates of the utility of these devices in application to problems of training the United States Army.
