Abstract:

Investigation of metalmetal nitride systems was continued in the search for satisfactory reference electrodes in liquid ammonia lithium-electron electrodes were studied new separator materials were used for a diffusion barrier between the reference electrode chamber and the main test-cell cavity apparatus and procedures were developed to control electrolyte concentration in conductance measurements at pressures to 25 atm a thermistor probe was developed for temperature measurements with an accuracy of approximately 0.05C in the immediate vicinity of the experimental electrode and cyanamide derivatives were prepared for use as neutral and acidic electrolytes in voltaic cells. A calorimeter was modified for measuring heat output of a liquid ammonia battery during discharge a simulus test fixture was designed and built for controlling critical assembly parameters and measuring dynamic discharge conditions and battery test instrumentation was improved.
