The differential cross sections for the excitation of nine levels of carbon and one level of beryllium are reported for 35 angles from 15 to 150 degrees. The results for the 2.43 MeV level of beryllium and the 4.4 and 9.6 MeV levels of carbon have an average relative accuracy of 3 while the 7.6, 10.8, 11.8, 12.7, 14.0, 15.1, and 16.1 MeV levels of carbon have an average accuracy of 10. The cross sections change by one to three orders of magnitude from forward to backward angles. Levels at 13.3 and 16.6 MeV in Carbon were not observed. The experimental apparatus is described, and the 2.43, 4.4, 7.6, and 9.1 MeV angular distributions are compared with distorted wave calculations. Author
