The report concerns a theoretical study on the propagation of waves produced by an explosion in a spherical cavity in a metal. A purpose of such a study is to help find reliable criteria for extrapolating internal blast loading behavior to larger spherical containers. This study is being done concurrently with an experimental investigation on 7 in. and 10 in. aluminum spheres. The scope of the project includes an experimental program in blast waves in plastics.
