Abstract:

The First Congress of the All Union Hydrobiological Society of the Academy of Science of the USSR was conducted at Moscow University from 1 to 6 January 1965. Considerable interest was generated by reports touching on the general problems of biology of the oceans. Ideas and materials on the problems of bioenergetics of the ocean were presented, as well as on the most general principles of the distribution and abundance of life in the hydrosphere in light of problems of biological productivity, beginning with the initial production to the end of its chain--fish.
