The new coldweld enclosure with dimensions conforming with the HC-6U is on order. The available transistor coldweld enclosure was accepted by the government representative at the last conference. Some brazing difficulties were experienced, however, the problems are being resolved. Most of the modifications needed for the thermocompression bonding apparatus are completed and preparations are being made to adapt a method to employ AT resonators in the holding fixture. The glass bonding technique has been centered around the sodium silicate as a bonding agent. A major problem developed when high temperature, vacuum tests were conducted on the bonding material the gold plated electrodes lose adherence to the quartz at high temperatures. The vacuum bakeout chamber is being fabricated. The particular arrangement will allow the bakeout and sealing of the resonator units to take place in the same vacuum environment. The quartz resonator design is nearly completed and only some minor adjustments of electrode and ZZ angle are needed. An aging facility was constructed and it is now being aged before employment.
