Abstract:
A method has been investigated for the quantitative determination of aluminum oxide in aluminum alloys. Iodine and chlorine were used as isolating agents for aluminum oxide in an aluminum matrix. A spectrophotometric method of aluminum analysis is presented employing these halogen reagents. Limited test results on aluminum foil and wire indicate that a high iodine concentration in methanol, when chlorine is present, yields consistent results of Al2O3 content.
