Abstract:
Progress is reported on a program to improve the characteristics of parylene coated foil capacitor and to develop a metallized parylene capacitor capable of operating over the temperature range of -55C to 125C at a rated voltage of 100 VDC, whose capacitance volume ratio is one-half that of a 50 volt metallized Mylar capacitor. Such capacitor to exhibit a dissipation factor less than 0.25 250 megohm microfarad minimum insulation resistance at 125C temperature coefficient less than 300 ppmC 200 dielectric voltage withstand less than 5 change in capacitance after life. Topics include parylene coated foil capacitors improved cleanliness and smoothness of substrate foil, effects of core material and configuration, case insulation parylene coated metallized capacitors design considerations, capacitor web development.
