Abstract:

The electrical resistance of beds of finely divided graphite and conducting coke was investigated in the settled and fluidized regions. In almost all cases a maximum in the bed resistance occurs at a gas velocity slightly greater than that required for minimum fluidizing. This was explained qualitatively by assuming current flow along a continuous network of touching particles the resistance of which is modified by the growth of gas bubbles in the bed. Author
