A theory of the rf impedance of a short isolated cylindrical antenna in a plasma is developed. The results indicate a series resonance exists below the plasma frequency where a parallel resonance exists. This series resonance, and indeed the complete impedance function, was found to depend upon the electron temperature, plasma frequency and the antenna physical parameters. Several examples are illustrated. Author
