Experimental and theoretical developments in the control of nuclear fusion reactions as plasmas of temperatures of hundreds of millions of degrees are discussed. Thermal insulation by means of magnetic fields is discussed. Successful control of nuclear fusion would allow the use of deuterium and tritium as nuclear fuel for power applications.
