Ninety-four cadets rated the likeability of pictures of 30 cadets unknown to them. Each of the cadets faces being rated was shown in three poses smiling, in repose, and in profile. The likeableness of the faces was quite stable for all three poses. The smiling faces received considerably more favorable responses than did the other two poses. The relative likeableness of the faces in different poses were not highly related. The range of groups positive and negative responses to the faces was quite broad. Author
