Abstract:
Dielectric dispersion, relaxation of the Kerr effect, and relaxation of the Benoit-Wippler effect are discussed for flexible chain molecules in terms of the model used by Zimm to treat viscoelastic behavior of dilute polymer solutions. Low-frequency dispersion is related to the long-wave Fourier components of the electrical charge distribution along the chain backbone. Author
