Abstract:

The purpose of this note is to demonstrate that the spin-parity quantum numbers of 1405 mev Y0 provide a test of the reciprocal bootstrap hypothesis. It is pointed out that p12 is a better spin-parity assignment for Y0 than is s 12, but if so, then the reciprocal bootstrap hypothesis must be either abandoned or substantially modified. A p32 resonance is also considered, and an approach to the problem is suggested through the study of the strong decay Y1 1660 to pion pion. Consideration is also given to the proposition that the reciprocal bootstrap hypothesis can work in Schwingers W3 model. Author
