Abstract:
The theory is developed from basic analytical geometry and presents a systematic approach to the study of binary and ternary mixtures. Topics include definition of the simplex, simplex coordinate systems, properties and applications of the coordinate systems, simplex to simplex, and simplex to Cartesian coordinate transformations linear and nonlinear simplex models for the study of binary and ternary mixtures, the contour problem solved in terms of the nonlinear models, a program to plot the desired contours of ternary systems, statistical studies involving nonlinear models, and relation of simplex models to the thermodynamic properties of multicomponent mixtures.
