Abstract:
A theory for combustion instability based on fuel flow velocity modulation produced by injector vibration is postulated. The research mainly covers the effects of vibration on liquid jet break-up. A theoretical analysis of boundary layer instability in the presence of the tangential mode, leading to a large increase in heat transfer to the combustion chamber walls, is also given.
