Abstract:
One purpose of this paper was to present a conceptualization of the teaching-learning process in a way that permits the development of a CBIS Computer-Based Instructional System. One function of the CBIS is the development of real-time models in the form of computer programs that teach. With these programs, we can perform a second function which is to conduct research relating to the decision processes necessary for teaching. A second purpose was to indicate ways in which SOCRATES System for Organizing Content to Review and teach Educational Subjects is being used a to conduct research relating to an idiographic model of tutorial instruction b to study basic variables relating to learning and transfer and c to develop the technology of using a CBIS to generate learning materials. Results from several different applications of SOCRATES were summarized. Author
