Abstract:

Nanosecond pulses exceeding 2000 A are obtained by discharging a plated-capacitor transmission line of very low impedance thru an air gap. High repetition rates exceeding 20 kc are possible, also triggered single shots with a time jitter of less than a nanosecond. A compact model of the pulser for operating a laser diode is described. Lower pulses covering a wide current range conveniently are produced by the same geometry, using a mercury wetted contact switch. Author
