Abstract:

The roles of electrochemistry and electron paramagnetic resonance EPR are discussed, including the contributions of each technique to the problems of the other. EPR has contributed to electrochemistry by 1 the detection and identification of radical intermediates in electrode reactions and 2 providing information about solution interactions of radical ions which contribute to a fuller understanding of these entities as oxidation-reduction intermediates. Electrochemistry has contributed to EPR, especially in the generation of anion radicals, by offering wider range of experimental conditions than previously available. U Author
