Abstract:

Modern electronic computers can integrate in the order of one thousand simultaneous nonlinear ordinary differential equations, given a complete set of initial conditions. One of the aims of the theory of invariant imbedding is to show how to use this capability to resolve significant problems in transport theory. In the present paper the authors show how to compute internal intensities when a finite homogeneous slab is illuminated by uniform parallel rays of radiation.
