This report presents the findings of theoretical and experimental studies to determine the physical properties of probable lunar surface materials in a simulated lunar environment. To accomplish these goals, the following tasks were performed 1 Installation of two ultrahighvacuum systems 2 preparation of and synthesis of materials to simulate the rock compositions most likely to be present on the moon 3 analysis and experimentation on the surface effects on adhesion 4 analysis and experimentation on electrostatic effects 5 studies of radiation and 6 analysis and measurement of thermal properties in a high vacuum.
