Abstract:

Impact core-samplers used in Soviet oceanographic expeditions to obtain longer cores of ocean-bottom sediments are discussed. The use of the hydraulic coreexpeller of Kudinovs design TT 63-12541 is claimed to have brought the utmost simplicity into the process of extracting the cores from the tubes, and to have improved the quality of the lithological material obtained.
