The thermoelectric power and its temperature dependence for solid solutions of diborides of the fourth- and fifth- column transition metals was measured. The results show a systematic change with concentration of the solid solutions but cannot be explained on the basis of the simple one band model which is in agreement with the Hall constant and resistivity data over most of the concentration range. No systematic porosity dependence, observed in the results of the other conduction properties, was evident here. A comparison with the silver palladium alloy system, correcting for the difference in s-d band overlap for the two systems, shows similar behavior for both the Hall effect as well as for the present data. Hence, while the thermoelectric power data could not be used to confirm the simple model initially assumed, it does, however, exhibit behavior analogous to date for pure transition metals and their alloys.
