A rapid method for the determination of chlorine is described. The method is applicable to the chloride ion formed following an oxygen flask combustion procedure or for soluble ionic hydrochlorides. The percentage of chloride is determined by titrating the chloride ion with silver nitrate using an adsorption indicator, 2,7-dichlorofluorescein to detect the endpoint. Compounds containing carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, chlorine and sulfur were successfully analyzed. Author
