Determination of the vapor pressure curve for BeF2s between 713 and 793K by means of the torsion effusion technique has led to values of 58.1 0.7 kcalmole and 47.8 0.9 caldegree mole for the enthalpy and entropy of sublimation of this material at 298K. Combination of these values with previously reported values for the enthalpy and entropy of vaporization of BeF2 leads to values of 1.6 0.8 kcalmole and 4.2 1.1 caldegreemole for the enthalpy and entropy of fusion of BeF2 at its melting point 815K. Employing a new experimental technique and a new method of data analysis the dissociation energy of the F2g molecule at 298K has been found to be 41.1 kcalmole. This value essentially substantiates a number of previously reported values in the 37-40 kcalmole region. Author
