Abstract:

A uniform steady flow of compressible fluid of low electrical conductivity past thin magnetized bodies was studied. Because of the thinness of the body and the small electrical conductivity of the fluid, the fundamental equations of magnetogasdynamics may be linearized. The external electromagnetic fields are under the control of the designer of the aircraft and independent of the flying conditions. Hence we may use the electromagnetic fields as a control device for the aircraft flying in a fluid of low electrical conductivity. The effectiveness of this device is proportional to the magnetic parameter R sub M. Author
