Abstract:

The effect on human performance of whole body vibration at a frequency of 5 cycles per second was investigated. Ten subjects were tested on a two dimensional tracking task at four double amplitudes of vibration, 0.08, 0.12, 0.16 and 0.20 inch. Only the two highest levels produced a decrement in performance. No subjective or performance after-effects were found following any of the four 20-minute periods of continuous vibration. Author
