Abstract:
This report demonstrates methods of mechanizing the equations of motion of helicopters and VSTOL aircraft by the use of analog computing equipment. The equations of motion of these aircraft are presented in NAVTRADEVCEN Technical Reports 1205-1, -2 AD-601 022, AD-602 427, and this report assumes a knowledge of such equations by the reader. The report reviews and discusses criteria for the selection of analog computer type as 60 cycle and 400 cycle, and choice of carrier, as well as specific computer components. A helicopter and a tilt wing VSTOL are selected for computer mechanization and the presentation of computer flow diagrams which may be typical computer diagrams used in the analog simulation of such aircraft are discussed.
