Abstract:

This paper compares accuracy of prediction of officer effectivess ratings from information about educational attainment and from information about the officers military record grade, type of commission, source of commission, aeronautical rating. Muliple regression techniques were applied to data for 1671 weather officers. Results showed that, although military grade and type of commission regular or reserve were the best single predictors, both educational level and college major were also significantly predictive of the officer efficiency rating. In combination with all the other variables, educational level still added significantly .01 level to prediction, but information about the officers college major did not. Author
