Abstract:

A differential equation and boundary conditions that govern the electrically forced flexural vibrations of bilaminar ceramic plates, and analogous one-dimensional equations appropriate for narrow rectangular beams, are developed from linear equations of state for a piezoelectric material. Formulas for the electrical input admittance of a bilaminar plate or beam are given. The effect of shear and rotary inertia on the resonance frequencies of freeedge disks and free-free beams is evaluated. A systematic procedure for calculating the significant elastic, piezoelectric, and dielectric properties of the ceramic transducer from impedance and admittance data is developed, and typical values of these parameters are determined. A brief description of the equivalent circuit of a bilaminar ceramic flexural vibrator is included. Author
