The prescribed tests were performed on the preproduction detectors to prove their rugged character. Eleven of the twelve detectors withstood the destructive environments with only minor parameter changes. The eleven detectors total performance remained wholly within all specifications. One detector received a cracked pin during a dimensional measurement with resulting loss of vacuum. The vacuum loss is not attributable to environmental fatigue. No major difficulties were encountered during the testing. Minor problems which might be noted were an amplifier power supply malfunction, liquid nitrogen feed line freezing and required isolation above ground of operating test radiation sources. No major consequences resulted from any of these occurrences. All electrical parameters met or exceeded specification requirements as stated in SCS-150A dated 5 October 1962 and modified by approved Technical Action Requests. Author
