The atmospheric density at perigee height is computed from satellite observations by the following procedure 1 obtain accurate orbital elements from a differential orbit correction procedure, 2 fit each element as a function of time, 3 analyze thee residuals in mean anomally, 4 compute the rate of change of the anomalistic period, 5 derive the density by integrating Sternes formula considering a Jacchias model atmosphere. The data processing technique is given more emphasis than the analytical formulation in this attempt at an automatic procedure for the computation of atmospheric density. Author
