A high explosive calibration shot was detonated near the epicenter of a regional earthquake of 3 March 1963. Purpose of the explosion was to check the accuracy of the epicenter location and to test a calibration procedure suggested as an on-site inspection technique for investigating a suspicious event. The accuracy of the epicenter location is confirmed. Data from the shot are also used to obtain an indication of focal depth from earthquakes in the region.
